“Look – your hands are on fire”

Thank you to the Poetry Salzburg Review, and Robert Peake for this glowing review of ‘Sudden rainfall’ (Perdika Press 2013).  Order your copy here to read the feature in full, and the rough beginnings of a new poem ‘Conditions of Fire’.

‘Loaded with surprise, at times chant-like in repetition. Calcutt’s poems are compressed, indeed spring-loaded much like Emily Dickinson. Abruptly pointing towards something surprising, and new. “Look – your hands are on fire.” Sudden rainfall guides us through the territory of meditative perception, with overwhelmingly confident leaps.”
