CHOREOGRAPHY

‘Naked’ // Film poem

A translation from language into dance and film. Choreography: Helen Calcutt. Production: Tina Barnes, Redstorm

Helen is highly experienced performer and dance practitioner, originally trained in commercial dance before moving into her contemporary practice, and a career in dance-theatre and movement direction. As a choreographer Helen works across the U.K. and internationally, sharing a compelling, energetic, full-bodied method of movement, working either in specific dance techniques and creative approaches, or towards interdisceplinary performances, drawing on her knowledge of text-based choreography to create physically immersive, narrative work. Helen is also a professional Cuban-rhythms and Cuban-salsa dancer, and brings this attentiveness to musicality and ensemble connection, into her movement direction.
