Helen is the author of two books of poetry. Her pamphlet Sudden rainfall (Perdika Press) was shortlisted for the PBS Choice Award, and became a Waterstones best-selling pamphlet in 2016. Her first full-length book of poems Unable Mother, described as a ‘violent and tender grapple with our cosy notions of motherhood’ (Robert Peake) will be published by V.Press in September 2018.
Helen has written award-winning literary reviews for publications such as The Wales Arts Review, Sabotage, and TLS, and has taken on writing residences with The National Trust, and Loughborough University, where she also works as a visiting lecturer in Creative and Professional Writing. Her work has appeared in journals such as The London Magazine, Poetry Scotland, Envoi, Equinox, and anthologies such as Inky Lemons, Vanguard Editions, and Poetry Salzburg. Helen is also a writing tutor for the likes of Andrew Motion’s Poetry By Heart, N.A.W.E, and Poetry International. She is currently facilitating a successful workshop series, Writing Motherhood.
