helen calcutt poetHelen is the author of two books of poetry. Her pamphlet Sudden rainfall (Perdika Press) was shortlisted for the PBS Choice Award, and became a Waterstones best-seller. Her first, full-length book of poems Unable Mother, described as a ‘violent and tender grapple with our cosy notions of motherhood’ (Robert Peake) is published by V.Press.

Helen has written award-winning literary reviews for publications such as The Wales Arts Review, Sabotage, and TLS, and has taken on writing residences with The National Trust, and Loughborough University, where she also works as a visiting lecturer in Creative and Professional Writing. Helen works as a writing tutor for the likes of Poetry By Heart,  Writing West Midlands, and N.A.W.E.  She is editor of ’84’ a new anthology of poems and writings on the subject of male suicide.
